Barbara Petrohan

Born in Kansas to a town of about 500 (mostly German Mennonite farmers) and afraid of not being able to maintain a quality lifestyle in the U.S. after retirement, Barbara attended her first Live and Invest Overseas conference in January 2015. Now globally diversified in income-producing investments that have helped her secure her future, Barbara is a veteran to this going-overseas idea.

After more than 40 years as a veterinarian, Barbara retired in 2017 to embrace a new life, looking especially forward to more sleep and less stress. No longer ruled by fear and confusion, she has come to fully embrace life overseas and hasn’t limited herself to any single country, affording her options in travel, lifestyle, and the chance to catch up with all her new friends around the world.

Based part of the year in Medellín, Colombia, where her lifelong passion for cooking and hosting dinner parties has been the fulfilled better than she could have dreamed, she also spends some time in her investment property in Belize, where she can scuba dive on a whim. Barbara now has her sights on Portugal and the Dominican Republic where she hopes to be able to share her time in future years… and who knows where next—she’s open to anything!
