Kathleen and Lief will be discussing the best beach options in this quick stop tour of our 21 recommended countries.
The countries covered are:
- Belize. This is an inexpensive English-speaking destination. For great beaches, you can head to Placencia or Ambergris Caye. If you like beautiful Caribbean beaches to snorkel and dive these are great options for you.
- Portugal. This country has the highest number of blue-flag beaches. If you would like an Old-World beach destination, Portugal is a great option and a bargain too.
- Argentina. There are some beaches but not many. Argentina shouldn’t be on top of your list if a beach lifestyle is your priority.
- The Dominican Republic. The DR is all about the beaches. There are many options here such as Las Terrenas.
- Chile. Chile has long stretches of beaches. However, there are not many expats communities so you do need to learn Spanish.
- Colombia. Some beach areas to consider are Cartagena and Santa Marta.
- Ecuador. Ecuador’s beaches are on the Pacific side. The downside is that these are not great beaches.
- France. France has all sorts of beaches and coastal options. You can find luxury beaches and more affordable options.
- Slovenia. Slovenia has no good beach options.
- Malta. There are nice beaches in Malta. A plus is that English is an official language here and residency can be easily obtained.
- Malaysia. There are many options but they will be more rural options compared to other destinations. Also, English is widely spoken here.
- Italy. Abruzzo is a great and affordable option but you would need to learn Italian.
- Brazil. Brazil has many options but you do need to pay attention to the infrastructure and development of the area.
- Mexico. This is a huge beach destination for North Americans. There are both Caribbean and Pacific beaches.
- Thailand. There are many options for beach living in Thailand.
- Indonesia. Bali has plenty of beaches and English is widely spoken. However, it is a remote place.
- Montenegro: it has a short coastline. It’s not a great place for a beach lifestyle.
- Uruguay. There are many beaches. The main hotspot is Punta del Este.
- Vietnam. Vietnam has many great white-sand-beaches options.
- Spain. Spain has various coasts. An example is Costa del Sol or the beaches of Barcelona.
- Panama. The Pacific side beaches are great for surfing. However, these are not white-sand beaches. For that, you need to head to places like Bocas del Toro in the Caribbean side of Panama.
